I try to go into a film with as little baggage as possible. Seeing the reviews and reactions to Snake Eyes I was expecting the worst possible execution of two of my favorite characters from the GI Joe franchise. I’m left with a decent martial arts action film that given the pedigree of cast and the great Kenji Tanigaki behind the scenes could’ve been an all timer.

It’s depressing that Benny Chan, one of the greatest action directors not only in Hong Kong cinema but of film in general delivered his greatest film. His masterpiece, after his tragic passing. Raging Fire is not only the best action film of 2021, it’s the best film of the year.

    The Last Mercenary

I don’t know where to begin. It’s marketed as the next big JCVD action film but it’s a comedy and not a good one. Like at all. Comedy is subjective so take my review for what you will.

I didn’t laugh once for the first hour plus. The jokes fall flat and in some cases are dated (bad guy who quotes Scarface) and/or kind of offensive (prison rape, JCVD in drag giving “forced oral sex”). I didn’t laugh once for…
