Writing about this film feels like playing Russian roulette. If you say something wrong, bye bye.

The purposefully slow directorial flow sets the two time periods in unison to connect the resulting temporal spiral with the film's theme. The majority of the sequences are arranged in the following framework: Ext. Cosmos, Int. Ship - Activities, Int. Ship - Dialogue, which advances the plot, and then we're back to Ext. Cosmos. This narrative cycle encircles a seemingly eternal human trait:

No matter how or when,
man will kill man.
Whether with bones or AI,
somebody will make you die.

As the last shot illustrates, that's how we come to life, that's how we're programmed. And nothing can be done about it.

Okay, I think I did a good job. I didn't say anything bad.

Kubrick's ego is so palpable that I felt being punched in the face.
