A Night to Dismember

A Night to Dismember ★★★★½

I'm in awe. This borders on transcendental for me. Accidental dadaism. Cinematic bricolage. Horror as jazz--expressionist, lurid, and nauseating. Lights go out but vibrancy persists. The cut--nay, the entire conception of editing--does not service a narrative, it services feeling. This is an entire film composed of overtonal montage and it is so hard for me to not immediately give this a perfect rating. I don't even know if I want to see the "lost" original cut; Wishman's wild assemblage of this distorted mess is more than fine with me.
