I can be genuinely frightening how good some films can be, how mere sounds and images can move you so much. Harold and Maude completely blew me away when I first watched it last years and I feel like I love it even more now and I can safely say that this will be the first of many rewatches over the years.

Really disappointed with this to be honest as it feels generic as hell, with a formulaic story of a struggling artist which has been done so many times. I get that this is based on Larson's actual life but it still feels like I have seen this story a thousand times before in movies and this film dent feel like it really has anything unique about it. Garfield's performance was good, that's about all I have to say.

Genuinely beyond amazing. I appreciate the artistry of this film even more with each rewatch and now I can finally say that I believe it to be a modern masterpiece that deals with grief in the most unique way imaginable. Kristen Stewart gives one of the most expressive performances, even if her character seems to be contained, her face tells us so much more than what we hear. Not only is the central performance great, but Olivier Assayas directs this phenomenally, crafting so much tension and emotion into scenes.

That police station scene gets me every time I watch this, because of the perfectly slow paced buildup of flashback amounting to one giant attempt to end it all, so upsetting and such a gut wrenching scene. Don't really need to say much else apart from praise the brilliant and authentic performances.
