I was already tearing up during the opening credits. That’s what this film does to me.
I can’t put into words how important this film is to me and how it gets better with each viewing. This may very well be my favourite film ever (definitely in my top 5). It is so beautifully raw which is something that is rare to find in cinema today with most films glossing over moments like these and not allowing the viewer to experience the emotion in its entirety. You feel connected to these characters, so much so that when they are happy you are too and when they are sad you wish you could reach through the screen and give them a warm hug.
From the mesmerising cinematography to the magically compiled soundtrack, this is just the perfect film. I can’t find one flaw in it (other than the sticky peach pits being left on the floor for poor Mafalda to clean up, but I can look past that).
Thank you to everyone involved in this masterpiece (I don’t use that term lightly) for creating something so captivating and moving. This will definitely go down as one of the best films of the 21st century, I am sure of it.
