This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Trains constitutes an important part of Apu Triology.

In first part, they were the gateway to another world, free from suffering and full of dreams.

In second part, they were the means to
separate a mother from her son.

In third part, Apu literally lives right across the railway tracks. And at one point, even tries to end his life, by standing on the railway tracks.

The Continuous loud Whistling of the Train constantly reminded him and us ... a past full of suffering!!!
