nasty little psychological thriller with flashes of gonzo freakout movie magic. stands above the crop of this year’s sundance movies by never forcing its ideas (on everything from cyclical psychic torture to the terror of parenting) down your throat. withholds just enough to play as a bit of a Rorschach test for an audience. roth pure horror show. rebecca hall bows to no man.
TL;DR: There’s an unironic joke reference to Kavanaugh’s ‘I like beer’ line.
At face value, this is an above-average PG-13 horror movie.
