I’d honestly consider this a great movie but there’s a lot in act 3 ways it down for me
My main problem is that Michael smashes the doctors head in with a great big stomp like how the fuck is that possible he’s 61 not immortal nor does he have immortal powers oh and to prove he’s not immortal here’s a quote from Danny McBride himself
“Look at where the Halloween franchise has gone. There’s a lot of room for improvement. David and I are coming from it as, we are horror fans, and we are humongous fans of John Carpenter and of what he did with the original Halloween, so I think from watching this and being disappointed by other versions of this series, I think we’re just trying to strip it down and just take it back to what was so good about the original. It was just very simple and just achieved that level of horror that wasn’t corny and it wasn’t turning Michael Myers into some supernatural being that couldn’t be killed. That stuff to me isn’t scary. I want to be scared by something that I really think could happen. I think it’s much more horrifying to be scared by someone standing in the shadows while you’re taking the trash out as opposed to someone who can’t be killed pursuing you.”
And if that’s not enough for you lol use google he’s mortal in this and 61 years old but can do that.
I mean yes he’s strong and it’s absolutely plausible that a 61 old can be that strong in real life but crushing someone’s head in like that at 61? Nah this along with other stuff in act 3 just dragged me out if it a bit but every time I see that specific scene I go ugggg because it’s so stupid.
My second problem with act 3 is when Allyson gets out of the car instead of using the path to her grans which would have took about 2 minutes she uses the woods which apparently takes 10-15 minutes for whatever reason and she thinks that Michael is chasing her so what does she do scream her fucking lungs off LUL ok very generic horror movie choice that i wasn’t a fan off.
My third and final problem with this movie is that the doctor was evil like that felt very very lazy and a generic twist I’d have much rather had Michal just escape somehow in act 3 then what we got I also wish it was Laurie who sabotaged the bus so that she could kill him it would have been brilliant, original and would actually fit her character in this very well but oh well 🤷♂️missed opportunity I guess.
Other then the things I mentioned I love this movie I adore act 1&2 yes it’s very slow passed but it suited it because of its creepy atmosphere, strong story, strong characters, fantastic lighting and altogether because of originality, creativity.
