Fireball: Visitors From Darker Worlds ★★★

Oppenheimer seems like a very nice guy and one hell of a researcher, but he also neutralizes Herzog here in a way he didn't in Into the Inferno. Whenever Clive is on screen explaining what happened, rather than allowing Herzog to ramble in his own passionate, poetic pace, I got a distinct Netflix nature doc vibe and it renders part of this fascinating subject flat and strictly informative rather than spectacular and celestial. Definitely a few solid Herzog passages to be found within its runtime but as a director, Herzog is increasingly too hung-up on the science of the natural world and not enough on the vibrant, beguiling chaos of it all.
