My man Alfonso...I'm sorry but this isn't it.
I was excited for this film. A perfect amount of excited. Not too excited and not too indifferent. I chose this film for the Scavenger Hunt because of it's horrible poster but I heard great things about the film itself. I wasn't really excited because of how sexual it is but I was pretty excited because of all the good reviews. Alas, it was not meant to be.
I found the film to be very boring and I didn't care for the characters at all. It was also very sexual which isn't a flaw or anything and it's the point of the film but it just annoyed me. Not gonna lie; the sex scenes were boring 🤷♂️. We had two horny and idiotic simps pining for some woman and I just couldn't give a damn about anything going on. It was an unengaging and uninteresting light porno. I understand what Cuaron was going for here but I just didn't enjoy it nor could I care at all. 45 minutes into the film, it was like a 1.5 or 2/5 but 46 minutes into it, the film started to get a lot better with the arguments and other additional plot-points. Unfortunately, it was a case of too little too late.
It's an okay movie I guess.
Edit (16/12/2020): Decided to lower it to a 2.5/5. It was a 3.5 and then a 3 but now it just keeps aging badly for me. I wouldn't call it a bad film and far from it and I also get its themes, messages, and what it's trying to do but it just isn't my thing. I feel like the execution was simply bad. I found it to be very messy, annoying, frustrating, disgusting, and stupid. Sorry.
