Let this film be a lesson to Hollywood: Representation isn't enough. You also have to have a strong story as your foundation. Paul Fiig's Ghostbusters or Elizabeth Banks' Charlie's Angels are prime examples of movies that thought simply by virtue of their casting the film's would have enough to be widely embraced & that's just not true. Worst, it's lazy, & it just proves the trolls on the internet right....

"I was about to go to bed, but now I'm weirdly interested, but also confused. What's going to happen next? Because literally anything could happen & I'd be like, okay I guess." - my Wife

I'm not sure what happened or why, but it's kind of fun. Some time around when the russian-zombie-cops are shooting RPG's at Milla Jovovich in a car with neon lights & spinners that keep on spinning, I just kind of went with it. There's a kind of frenetic lunacy to this film that's really propulsive.

Shit, am I on a Paul WS Anderson kick now?

The acting & screenplay are so bad I kept expecting a reveal that they're on a movie set and the main character is like a writer or something.... but it's just the film.
    If you want to ape…

Since returning to the movies, I've been chasing a feeling. I expected my return to the cinema to "feel" magic. I keep joking that whatever I saw first would instantly be a five-star "masterpiece," simply by virtue of watching a film on the big screen again... Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Now, that's not to say that F9, The Suicide Squad, Titane, Candyman & Shang-Chi were not without their charms (& Titane came closer than the others, but it's also a…
