High Hopes

High Hopes ★★★½

i guess the correct term for this is "transitional" as it has slightly too many broad strokes with the nouveau riche neighbours who feel like uncomfortable escapees from "abigail's party" or "nuts in may" who've wandered into something a bit more realist. jackson, sheen and dore are the real core figures in this, the real emotional heart of the film. they feel genuine and real and honest and human and really point the way for the leigh films to come...
