Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

QT’s warmest, comfiest and most thoughtful picture since Jackie Brown (his opus), a paradoxically naturalistic fairy tale overflowing with human detail, enveloping atmosphere and complicated substance. Career best performances from its leads and superlative sound/visual design carried my enjoyment mightily through the numerous little (or large?) problems and uncertainties, amounting in an experience I adored but a film I’m still a bit iffy about. There’s some serious thinking, reading and rewatching to be done before I can lavish too much praise, but I loved watching it. I can’t believe the same guy who made The Hateful Eight made this.
