A Fistful of Dollars

A Fistful of Dollars ★★★★

”You see, my mule doesn’t like people laughing”

Sergio Leone's extremely entertaining riff on Kurosawa's Yojimbo, that made Clint Eastwood a star as 'the man with no name', is a great example of using small budget to your advantage by a filmmaker stretching himself and the genre to new extremes. Leone's masterful framing, dynamic camera movement, shot reverse shot and editing of close-ups to show the characters' spatial relationships bolstered by Ennio Morricone’s score is always a pleasure.
