It’s rare a twist ending completely turns me off of a movie but this is one of those times

I find Shakespeare dialogue to be punishingly complicated. I hear the English words being said but together in Shakespearean sentences they cease to hold any actual meaning. I have to work hard to follow along with his plays on a scene to scene basis.

So needless to say, I was a bit apprehensive going into this. And what I found so impressive about the film was that it kinda didn’t matter that I had no idea what anyone was saying.…

    ★★★

Kinda fun! Nothing amazing but I had a nice time. I have no desire to ever revisit on my own but if I had a kid that was obsessed with it I wouldn’t hate having to put it on.

The snake guy is disgusting. I couldn’t get over how gross his face is. Fuckin hated it. Way too gross.

Can now confidently say I will never watch the theatrical cuts of these films again

Okay everyone who ever recommended this to me was right, this is just fantastic

  • Eternals

    Eternals

    ★★

I really wanted to love this. There’s a lot I find interesting about it. There’s a lot about what being a God means, and what role a god plays in the development of society. A lot of religious allegory and symbolism and contemplation that I wasn’t expecting.

    Unfortunately I don’t think the movie really has anything to say with any of those ideas. And it becomes extremely hard to stay invested for two reasons;

Firstly, I found it impossible to care…

The horrifying realization that when you escape adolescence the adult world waiting for you is just as depressing

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

It’s really truly magical how this movie takes everything that the Harry Potter movies do right and makes it inexplicably boring and uninteresting

  • The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

For Christmas my Father-in-law got me all three Lord of the Rings extended editions on Blu-ray. I’ve always been fairly intimidated by them. I adore Fellowship and really had no desire to watch a longer version when the theatrical cut is already pretty damn long. I have a good attention span, but the idea of watching a four hour version of what I already thought was a pretty much perfect movie always felt like such a daunting task.

    But today I had…

Really liked this a lot! Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman have fantastic chemistry and I loved watching them go through it together. There are some scenes that drag, and I’m not crazy about the very ending. But this is mostly a sweet movie that made me smile lots

You can’t beat the system. You can’t play the game and come out on top. Big business will eventually bleed the little guy for everything they’re worth, and proceed to beat them to death with a bowling pin

    The Tender Bar

A very nice collection of scenes that unfortunately doesn’t add up to anything satisfying or meaningful
