watched on the great MUBI. really taken aback by not only Dea’s compositions and choice of utilizing the camera in a way that feels so alive in truly using the space and depth within the Academy ratio, but the incredibly immersive sound design work that lulls you into the film’s storytelling. kind of blown away it’s a debut film. here to see whatever she does next.

does it get more nervous than this? I don’t know, but it can only get more hilarious. Kubrick goes wild with the 1.66 ratio blocking. General Buck is one of the best characters of comedy. wish Scott did more comedies.

sometimes when you watch a movie for the first time, there’s always a scene early on that tells you that you’re in good hands. this one has that scene in the very first minute of the movie. incredible work.
