"We work in the dark to serve the light. We are assassins"
From a video game adaption view point, Kurzel's Assassins Creed is one if not the strongest adaption to date but even on its very own legs it stands tall against many action/adventure contemporaries of recent years. Performances are strong but similar to Rogue One the characters are underwritten and underdeveloped, in particular Ariane Lebed who is one of the film's highlights but left to the sidelines and it still disappoints me. The set and world building is spectacular and the strong use of practical effects is clear and welcome often forgotten aspect to this production.
