A simple story told very effectively and punctuated by Glover's fantastic music and dance choreography
This film's existence upsets me as a fan of David Harbour, Mike Mignola's original work and Guillermo del Toro's film adaptations. The producers couldn't have possibly half-assed this more, one of the biggest disappointments of 2019 for me. And not only was I disappointed, but I was embarassed to call myself a fan of the Hellboy brand. I would be a much happier person if this didn't exist.
Cathy Yan not only delivers on the stylistic promise of Suicide Squad's trailers, but also provides her own unique take on the anti-hero/villain comic book movie. Yan's direction and editing of the film perfectly fits Harley Quinn's narrative voice and head-space, which makes for a more personal and engaging story.
