    Tetsuo: The Iron Man

(Hooptober #8) Quite possibly the strangest, unsettling, engaging, grossest, most hilarious and unique film I may have ever seen. There are heavy influences from both Lynch and Cronenberg, but wholly unique in its style, ingenuity, and effects combined with camerawork. The pure assault on all six human senses is captivating (yes including taste). I’m stoked to find more films like this that are just driven by passion and creativity.

These filmmakers strain every bit of a dollar they can and its…

“In the New York Herald, November 26, year 1911, there is an account of the hanging of three men...”

I had some pretty huge expectations sitting down to watch Magnolia this morning. But I was very unassuming I was about to watch one of my new favorite films.

First off it’s PTA at the helm, so I assumed the writing and direction would at least be above average. I was so very wrong; this is one of the best…

Atmospheric, thematically rich, and possesses that rare entertainment value so few epics such as this one achieve. Dune has a very high bar.

My favorite del Toro film and favorite foreign film in general. Dark fantasy, dark reality; the lines are only blurred ever so slightly.

“I don't know what your generation's fascination is with documenting your every thought... but I can assure you, they're not all diamonds.”

That’s probably one of my favorite quotes from any high-school based movie.

This is basically a feature length homage to Hughes & Co. Tucci and Clarkson are some of the best coming-of-age parents ever, Thomas Haden Church is underutilized as hell in this, and Emma Stone is great in it. Falls to some of its genre trappings, but it’s still very funny in some parts and a light, breezy watch.

    Spider-Man 3

There are shades of Franco’s performance in this movie where it’s uncanny and a no-brainer as to why he would want to embody Tommy Wiseau in a feature-length film.

Also, this gets a lot more shit than it deserves. Raimi understood the spectacle and action of Spidey so well. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stoked for his take on Doctor Strange. Plus, the memes this spawned are top-tier.
