Jacob T.’s review published on Letterboxd:
Yorgos Lanthimos is one of the most interesting directors working today. I make a point to go and see everything he puts out, and the man has been doing work. 3 years in a row, 3 movies. The Favourite is both his most accessible and visually his best work. It was funny, dramatic, introspective, everything I’ve come to expect from him, but on a grander scale and without the stilted, monotone dialogue we’ve come to know and love (or hate) from his films.
Easily one of the best movies of the year, and the first Yorgos movie I’ve seen where I wasn’t the only person in the movie theater, which is a great sign!
Oh, he didn’t write the script? And people really like Emma Stone a lot and probably came just for her?
Hmm. Still counts.
