Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) ★★★½

A really enjoyable romp. It's clear that Cathy Yan has a love for Hong Kong cinema, because the action in the first two acts is impeccably filmed with stunning choreography and visuals. Robbie and the rest of the cast are great, though the title might as well be "Harley Quinn (and the Birds of Prey)" because the other characters don't get near the amount of time that she does. I love the idea of blowing up the Ace Chemical Plant being not just a triumphant moment for her character, but a bit of meta commentary about DC blowing up their dirty laundry from Suicide Squad. That previous film is not ignored though, as there are some cheeky callbacks to it that I found hilarious. All in all, a great action film.
