Deadpool 2

Deadpool 2 ★★★★½

So I expected to like Deadpool 2, but I didn't expect to love it. I honestly enjoyed this just as much, if not more than the first, and dare I say, I might've liked it more than Avengers: Infinity War (although that's a tough call).

Deadpool 2 takes everything I loved in the first - the comedy, the action, the heart - and it doubles down on every one of those things. It's fast-paced, insanely entertaining, and hilarious. My jaw actually hurts from how much I was smiling and laughing during this movie. Ryan Reynolds is once again amazing in the role, and I genuinely believe that God put him on this Earth to play this part. Josh Brolin as Cable is also a standout, and he was a great addition to the cast, as was Zazie Beetz as Domino.

And as I stated earlier, the comedy is amazing and on point. I laughed so hard at times. I laughed more in this than I did in the first, and I can't think of one joke I didn't at least chuckle at. The action sequences are also even better in this movie, as they are both exciting and well-made on a technical level. This movie also has the best credits scene I've ever seen in my entire life, and I'll leave it at that.

As far as problems go, this movie isn't without them; some of the CGI is a bit clunky and can be a tad distracting at times. I also thought that the character of Russell was a little dull, at least at first. He gets better as the movie goes on, but he still isn't the most compelling character in the movie. I would also say that the plot is pretty basic, and there are some small continuity errors and conveniences throughout that I noticed, but they never compromised the experience for me. Those are all pretty minor in the long run though.

As a whole, Deadpool 2 is absolutely everything I wanted and more; it's bigger than the first, it's funnier than the first, and it's more entertaining than the first. This is what a comic book movie sequel should be, and I loved it. It's not perfect, but I loved it, and it's one of the best movies of the year so far.
