Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★★

When QT wants something, he gets it. Once upon the time...in Hollywood seems to be his most spoiled high-budgeted fantasy no-one dares to resist. His 9th outing as a director might not be as gory or grotesque as former ones, yet it proves that he can be a virtuoso in not-quite-sweet-but-mellow storytelling approach. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that he makes a romantic flick or in that sense, though it’s a beautifully-written love letter to Hollywood at where it should be remembered. As presented throughout the 161 runtime, Tarantino makes sure that city of stars as we know it from other films, has seen better days, and those days are in his epic slices of lives. DiCaprio and Robbie did their fair shares of astounding performances, but the one who shines the brightest is Brad Pitt. Now that really helps us to see the significance of those guys behind the camera or crazy stuntmen who put their lives on the line for the sake of our entertainment. Quentin hits every note in this one.
