• Flesh + Blood

    Flesh + Blood

    ★★★½

I can with confidence confirm that Flesh + Blood indeed contains flesh and/or blood.

  • Christine

How are goth Greasers not a thing?

Edit: okay did a Google and found out it's definitely a thing.

A film for anyone who's into crunchy sound effects.

  • Dune

    Dune

    ★★★★

I'm amazed that Dune from 2021 actually got away with being this dense, this challenging, and most of all this weird. I wholeheartedly hope they manage to make another one, but bracing for the news that they won't. It's too pure for this world.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

    ★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Not to be a pedant, but what was the actual legend of the ten rings? Did I miss something?

  • The Thing

    The Thing

    ★★★★★

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

While I think I still prefer Alien when it comes to American working class horror where an unknown entity from space picks of crewmembers one by one, The Thing ends on such a perfectly bleak note that Hollywood stuff seldom gets to do. I think the ending can only be matched by the Japanese masterpieces like Ring or Cure.

  • Showgirls

    Showgirls

    ★★½

people beguile Hollywood for being too formulaic, but jump right on the dunking bandwagon when something visionary has the gall to not succeed at what it was trying to do.

  • Wife of a Spy

    Wife of a Spy

    ★★★

While being a very effective twist on the spousal spy drama, Wife of a spy unfortunately shows the downsides of cheap looking (can't tell if actually monetarily cheap) digital filmmaking. In many places the backgrounds, while evidently real since characters move in them, looks like they're taken straight from the Resident Evil remakes. Honestly fascinating the more I think about it.

  • Tetsuo: The Iron Man

    Tetsuo: The Iron Man

    ★★★

Might've been a bad idea to watch this on two beers and too little sleep.

  • The Father

    The Father

    ★★★

Whoever sold this to me as somewhat of a thriller was downright lying. There is neither any real mystery to what's going on here, nor any suspense over where things will end up.

  • Framed

    Framed

    ★★★★

Just a slight bit of over-acting can go a very long way!

  • Escape from New York

Has there ever been a better cast film?

  • The Unprecedented Defence of the Fortress Deutschkreuz

The Unprecedented Defence of the Fortress Deutschkreuz

    ★★½

The narrator in this is a dead ringer for a German Dark Souls character.
