    This only works because of how stacked this cast is (and Meyers’ aesthetic, which is awe-inspiring with every new room filled with perfectly maintained bookshelves)

    Nicholson and Keaton are actually believable as a couple because Meyers understands that relationships are formed out of engaging conversations between people, not just montages set to pop songs. I’m also surprised how much runtime Meyers devotes to sex, and that her main characters are way more sexually open than in most movies like this.…

    The real miracle is this movie’s ability to turn Hanks’ natural charisma and likability into dour  drudgery and detached exposition.
