I was able to get to about 2 hours into the film this time, before the bucking bronco of its story threw me into outer space again. There's a point in the story where Boxer Santaros starts acting like a completely different person, almost like Arnold's more measured transition in Total Recall. It makes the finale of Southland Tales feel so alien, that I still don't really "get" the ins and outs of the film's climax. Once again though, I'm still so impressed by the raw ambition of this thing that it doesn't bother me that it's completely insane.
