    Stand by Me

    A surprisingly remarkable film. It doesn't do anything particularly special, but as a Hollywood coming-of-age story Reiner gets so many of the precise beats so right, the entire film indeed does feel like something held in suspension between belief and memory. King's source material is incredibly strong, of course, so that helps, but this is far more affecting than it has any right to be.
