The songs feel shoe-horned in (which apparently was the case) but the dancing and production is good. The plot is very thin, but that's not really the point of the movie, if feels like it's about nostalgia and a rosey image of what the transition to sound was like and in that it succeeds.

Probably could have been a lot scarier, but it was pretty funny and had great costumes/sets.

Very few misses in the jokes. Maybe nostalgia, but I liked it
