About time I delved into this 70's classic, considering it's often spoken about as the best of the Blaxploitation movies from that era (Dependant on whether or not you consider it one, because it's so much more than that).
First thing to note is J.J Johnson and Bobby Womack's scintillating soundtrack, with the title track standing the test of time as one of the grooviest soul songs of all time.

Took about half an hour to get into, but once it had me hooked, pure chaos ensued - completely blew my expectations out of the water. An underappreciated gem in the run of 70s thrillers that probably fell in the midst of Marathon Men and Three Days of the Condor. The screenwriting's very cleverly written and the story was equally paced to perfection - didn't find it nearly as boring as everyone else seems to have found it. Voight's dazzling as the leading man and he played off the superb supporting cast extremely well. A well crafted thriller!

Everything looks better in black and white. Lighting, composition and framing of shots is incredible here. Gripping adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic play - have to say studying it in English Class last year helped massively with the language barrier and understanding of the story. Watched at the Watershed.

What can I say that hasn't been said about this film! The way Bong Joon-Ho represents the class discrimination between the two families is incredible and for anybody that reads this who hasn't watched it, you have to watch it!

A friend of mine kept nagging me to watch this film and I put it off until today. 2 hours 13 minutes later, I may have just watched one of the best films I've ever seen.
