"You Just Gotta Keep Livin' Man. L-I-V-I-N." - David Wooderson
Alright, alright, alright.
This is one of my favorite films about high school. The editing is perfect, the casting is perfect, and the aimless storytelling works on multiple levels. I can see why this is harder to identify with if you were raised in a purely digital world with a different culture but I think there is so much heart to Dazed and Confused that there is a little something here for everyone.
COMMENTARY TRACK: If you are fan of Linklater's work at all I very much recommend seeking out his commentary track for this movie. He speaks very freely about his problems with the studio system, tells a lot of great stories, and goes off on one extra's ability to play foosball. One of the best moments is when he realizes he should have had more stories about women in the film. It's a great and honest track and I loved it.
