We are expected to feel sorry for Lilo for not having friends but I think she doesn't have friends because she is an asshole.
Lilo and Stitch are fucking adorable and fucking horrible and I really enjoy that about the movie. It's rare for Disney to have a character with such real flaws and a script that fully develops those flaws and how someone learns to deal with them. I like that this film argues that nurture beats out nature and shows it in a really thoughtful way.
I like the animation, which reminds me of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in that it feels like people walking through static storybook backgrounds. Stitch is one of the cutest animated characters in Disney history. His erratic outbursts are adorable and his story is both identifiable and touching. He contrasts very well with Lilo and the others. If I had a criticism of this film, I think the third act could be a bit more fun and interesting.
I believe in love again.
