This has a lot going for it between it's great cast of character actors, lovely retro aesthetic, and some INCREDIBLE practical effects and set dressing but unfortunately it's got a few too many 90s wAcKy KiDs cOmEdY choices to make it really enjoyable. Particularly hated the Borrowers' goofy haircuts and prosthetic teeth, not to mention the farting dog. Peak comedy, truly. The VERY modern product placement also felt incredibly jarring considering the aesthetic every other part of the movie was going for.
Much as I was consistently impressed with the FX work, Arrietty is definitely the superior film.
