This movie was phenomenal. It had some of the cheesiness of a poorly produced movie, while being wonderfully put together. The script was great, the visuals were nice, and the allegory was nuanced enough to be valuable, while being readily understood. The parallels between modern Hollywood and this film, the gate keeping of beauty, and the control of black beauty standards in order to keep black women in their place was very obvious but well done in my eyes.

There were moments that were fairly predictable for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed the movie overall.

Pretty good storytelling. Unique to any other exorcism movie I’ve ever seen! The way they played through the exorcism itself had me on the edge of my seat. Thoroughly enjoyed this, however was not very scary. Not sure if I’m just crazy though!

My absolute hands down favorite modern horror movie. The storyline is masterful. The imagery is horrific. The twists are unfathomable. Not a fave. Felt shocking for shocking’s sake. It had some of the same horror from Hereditary, however it didn’t feel as though it had the same substance. Felt more hollow. Without the spooky or horrific scenes, the storyline wasn’t all that scary. Some of the visuals are absolutely stunning, however. I love the attention to detail in the later scenes with the morphing flowers, faces, etc.
