    Hot Fuzz

    ★★★½

The second of the “Cornetto” trilogy, sees Simon Pegg and Nick Frost teaming up again this time as police officers, one exceptional and by the book and the other....Nick Frost.
Simon gets taken down a peg when his over and above policework is making the London police look bad, so they send him to a small town where a series of suspicious murders occur.
Quite funny and a good amount of action makes this a really enjoyable watch not to mention the stellar support cast.

The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Them

    ★★★

James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain star as a couple trying to deal with an unimaginable tragedy and trying to get back to what they once had.
Really well acted by the leads with great support from Viola Davis, Bill Hader and Isabelle Huppert.
Very good drama with a tough subject matter.

I was excited to see this movie but have been let down by high expectations before. This not only met the high expectations but exceeded them.  David Gordon Green’s love letter to John Carpenter is both familiar in a good way and updated, erasing the past missteps of many of the franchises sequels.
Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode forty years since the events of the original Halloween and is still obsessively preparing for her inevitable next…

    Sicario: Day of the Soldado

    ★★★★½

I loved the original Sicario so I had hopes that this sequel would be at least comparable.
Here Josh Brolin’s character is brought in to head up a mission to pit the Mexican cartels against each other by any means necessary.
This was exciting, intense and highly entertaining.  Great cast with the also returning Benicio Del Toro.
I was blown away with how much I loved this movie.
    A must see.
