Would've loved to see the Cianfrance version of this, but Darius Marder does a really solid job here. I'm glad it doesn't become the *finding a community* film that it could've easily been, but there are admittedly some identity issues that result in the latter half of the film's midsection. But even with any narrative stumbles, it's Riz Ahmed who is unequivocally the star of the show, grounding the entire film in a remarkably laser focused, intense, and deeply sobering performance that continues to cement him as one of our greatest working actors.
Really appreciate the subtitles.
