Like all other film school bro’s, spike lee found a way to eventually disappoint me. While Blackkklansman seamlesslessly approached a 1970s timeline alluding to contemporary political and racial turmoil, Bloods’ progressive and politically motivated themes lack any subtlety, ex) the overindulgence of MAGA hats, name-dropping Trump to spark blatant reactions, etc. There were so many irrelevant plot lines, like the Vietnamese daughter and opioid prescription that are hollow and never mentioned again.
