    No deep state involvement or tragic narrative here; instead Pasolini's death is a depressingly mundane victory of fascism. At the same time Ferrara's film is far from hopeless; it's about life more so than it is about death, and about the drive to create art.

    A little awkward in many ways but I liked what was there; the intense boxing match, that medieval duel of a climax and the core social theme of the film's thin plot. Even Gloria's incredibly cheap flashback, voiceover over a ballet dancer, ended up being sort of interesting in its visual non-narrativeness.
