Just absolutefuly fucking showstopping. Jesus christ, Jim, I'm sorry I haven't watched Thunder Road yet. This is basically everything I'd ever want to accomplish filmmaking-wise or otherwise-wise, let alone for a SECOND FEATURE. It's been so fucking long since I've seen genre melding as ambitious and expertly handled as the fucking mastery on display here. This thing's filled to the brim with some of the most hard-hitting, utterly devastating character drama that feels more deeply rooted in reality than literally most films I've seen, while still pulling off a compelling, exciting and really fucking horrific werewolf story in the year of our lord two-thou-sand-and-twen-ty, while also regularly featuring scenes that are seriously emotionally heavy and genuinely laugh out loud funny simultaneously. I don't like going through every different aspect I liked out of a movie that I overall loved because I'm not good at it and it's not what I'm doing now but god damn it is that editing tight and that cast in-fucking credible. I get that most people won't love this as much as I did because most people aren't delusional enough to know precisely what kind of films they envision making and to know upon watching this that this is it, but anyway, watch this movie.
RIP Robert Forster. Please take longer than he did to die, Jim Cummings.
