  • Star Wars: The Force Awakens

    Star Wars: The Force Awakens

21st century remake of the New Hope, great visuals at a rollicking fast pace. Probably a bit too fast and time should have been taken over some of the key plot events.

  • The Hateful Eight

    The Hateful Eight

Too long, too verbose, and too dull. The usual pieces of the QT jigsaw are there but don't quite fit together in a self indulgent test of patience.

  • Smokey and the Bandit II

    Smokey and the Bandit II

Weak sequel to S&TB. Dom De Louise is shoe-horned in as a piss poor "Italian" doctor (with a wandering accent) and offers nothing remotely funny. Buford T Justice has the best lines (as usual) but even they are a pale imitation of the 1st film, with some of them even repeated word for word. Avoid.

  • A Dangerous Game

    A Dangerous Game

An interesting follow-up to "You've been Trumped" although not quite as compelling."Trumped" made me angry whereas this just left me a little depressed as the wishes of local residents and the democratic process are simply ignored by corrupt politicians seeking to feather their own nest. Time for revolution methinks.

  • Battle Beyond the Stars

    Battle Beyond the Stars

Loved it as a kid but not so much as an adult. Cheesy Star Wars rip-off with poor special effects, low-rent script and hammy acting. Still vaguely enjoyable though and a good nostalgic rewatch.

  • Breakdown

Unremarkable and unmemorable 90s thriller. Kurt Russell plays Kurt Russell, as usual.

  • Backdraft

A fiery slice of Ron Howard cheese.

  • GoodFellas

    A perfect movie.

  • Commando

Early Arnie and his acting is as wooden as the fuck-off tree he's seen carrying at the start of the film. "Bennett" is the campest bad ass mofo ever and would look more at home in the "Village People". Reasonably entertaining bollox at its 80's best.

  • Patton

Great performance from GCS but the film is a bit "biopicy". Entertaining enough for the nearly 3h running time (including Intermission!).

  • Kes

Some iffy acting from some of the non-actors but still a great story. The football match scene still makes me laugh a lot. The film ends very abruptly and could have done with a few more minutes to make it a less jarring ending.

  • Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief

Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief

Interesting but not hugely revealing (if you're already read-up on the Scientology nut-jobs). Mostly talking heads.
