With a similar initial premise, this was way more politically astute than Nomadland
I have never had an emotional reaction to a film like what I experienced with this one. It was constructed so skillfully and it put me in what I can only call a hypnotic-like state. To the extent that when a line comes about 10 minutes from the end — a line that I had been somewhat expecting — it triggered an immediate emotional release and I literally couldn’t stop crying for the rest of the film. I’m home now and have eaten a taco and just started crying again. It’s the damndest thing. FUCK ME UP CELINE SCIAMMA.
