Give me arthouse trash, gore, animation, and bleak ass films please. :)
The main actor got on my nerves horribly and it was more of a story around him than it was regarding the children. It's just that typical trope which doesn't do much except show his struggle. Not really my thing, it had heart for the 70s in a sense but ultimately doesn't age well nor give a good perspective of racism.

When a movie starts, you wanna hook the audience in within the first few minutes, then reel them in whether the pacing is slow or fast doesn't really matter as long as you have them hooked.
