It doesn't get that much comment, but only THE CONJURING films have created a shared universe as consisted and successful as the MCU. And, like the MCU, that means they're often not that surprising and there's a ceiling on their greatness since they have to work as films but also as set-ups for other films. Just your run-of-the-mill film about a drifter (Alan Bates) who moves into the quaint village home of an experimental British composer (John Hurt) and starts talking about how he can kill people with his scream then begin exerting a strange power over the composter's wife (Susannah York), prompting the composer to start talk about cobbling a lot — and maybe it's all a tale spun by a madman talking to Tim Curry during a cricket game at an insane asylum? One of those.

Perfect movie for eight-year-olds who are also college students.
