I used to live in the town they shot this at so the techniques they used to look old just looked odd

The Last House on the Left

An almost perfect film. A few odd choices such as the soundtrack are really distracting. I get that you need comic relief to lower tension but the cop antics felt like they're from a different movie. Might be the best acting I've seen in a horror film

Woodstock 99: Peace, Love, and Rage

There's some talking heads who weren't attendees or involved with the festival who's job is just to underscore how horrific the footage is... Which speaks for itself. Have read a lot about the 9/11 of the American entertainment industry but finally seeing more than the bands perform is something else.

Just watched the extended cut but it's been too long since I last saw the theatrical cut to really compare. But I like this movie the way y'all like Fulci, you're watching for the vibe and aesthetic (at least once they get to the alternate dimension).

  • Song of the South

    Song of the South

I've got the perfect idea for a remake. You move the setting to 1990s LA. Young boy new in the city, dealing with his parent's separation when he befriends Uncle Rudy Ray Moore. Instead of the stories of Br'er Rabbit, Rudy Ray Moore tells him about the signifying monkey, Dolemite and other routines from his party records in lovely animated sequences. Anyone know how to get a hold of Eddie Murphy and Craig Brewer?

This is not a 5 star movie. Then why am I compelled to review it so high? It's like a vision from an alternate timeline

They should show this in film schools to demonstrate how a Die Hard rip off can get everything wrong. It's not even an enjoyable tasteless exploitation movie. The music choice for the closing credits did make me laugh harder than anything I've seen in recent memory

  • Fatman

Fatman isn't a great movie but I'm happy it exists. Gibson and Goggins really elevate this beyond being a joke. Marianne Jean-Baptiste steals every scene she's in. For a shorter movie it felt longer than it is, probably due to the pacing. The cinematography was the biggest issue I had with the movie. I guess its possible that the source I saw the movie through was faulty but a lot of the framing/compositions felt off. Sometimes cutting off parts of the screen too tight or just being outright confusing as in the climatic fight. It's worth watching for something weird and different though.
