Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★½

After months of waiting, as well as being denied to see it in theaters due to Bahrain’s 18+ age restriction on this movie, I finally got to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I watched it with my parents, who are both on opposite spectrums of the Quentin Tarantino fanbase. On one hand, Quentin Tarantino is my Dad’s favorite filmmaker, and he refused to watch this movie in theaters if he couldn’t watch it with me. On the other hand, my mother wanted to watch this movie because Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt were in it and has heard Tarantino’s name thrown around a few times by my Dad and myself. I’m glad that all three of us loved the movie. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is probably Tarantino’s funniest movie, and is a great tribute to Hollywood’s Golden Age of Cinema. I feel that all of Tarantino’s movies can be classified as tributes to cinema in one way or another, but this movie has so many homages to this specific era that you couldn’t help but call it the ultimate tribute to said era.

Margot Robbie could’ve been used a bit more, since I feel like she didn’t do very much in the movie, but that’s just me. The narration was also kind of pointless, like the narration from Inglorious Basterds. Still, this is a fantastic movie, and it’s pretty cool that this is the 700th movie that I’ve logged on this website.
