Possessor ★★★½

Cronenberg’s Ghost(s) in the Shell.

Brandon Cronenberg has proven that he is in total control of his craft when it comes to showcasing the brutish visual language of the flesh and the damaged psyche caught in the flux of identity, even if his narrative voice doesn’t add up to much when compared to the indelible imagery at hand (Some logistic questions are posed here). Possessor takes shape as a high-concept picture on the far wall, but as you get close to it, all you could smell is the flaking, low-quality ink, and this is not at all a bad thing. When you take it as a full-on sensory experience, it’s a dang gruesome symphony of liquid flesh. This is what you would come to expect from the son of the body horror master.

Pull me out.
