The Post ★★★★

For some reason I did not want this to be a movie I liked. I had settled for it being a 3.5. Max. I even managed to fall asleep for the first 10 minutes. When I woke up, I decided that I was mad that Oscar-bait  films such as this keep being nominated year after year. Of course something historical about journalism with great actors and Spielberg will be good. But awards should be given to the unexpected not the expected. To something we’ve never seen before not something we see every year. However by the end of the movie I simply cannot say that it isn’t very good. I don’t know what it is specifically, but Spielberg has a gift for not letting me dislike something I otherwise would. I don’t think it compares to many awards contenders I’ve loved this year, but it’s definitely something
