Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Terminator 2: Judgment Day ★★★★★

For years, I've seen Terminator 2: Judgement Day. I've seen it in bits and pieces when my Dad was watching late at night on TNT. I've seen it at a friend's house at a sleepover, but fell asleep halfway through. I've seen it in passing flipping through channels on lazy Sunday afternoons. But, from what I've remembered, I've never given it a proper watch where I sit on the couch, pressed play, and experienced it. Stupid, I know.

Today was the day I finally change that, and I feel like I've seen one of my new favorite films. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is one of the most perfect filmgoing experiences I've ever had. Every stake feels realized. Every action set piece is mind-blowing. Every performance is portrayed with such intense conviction, aside from Schwarzenegger and Patrick, who are so immersed in their emotionless robo-sonas that they feel as human as they do metal.

After watching The Terminator (1984) yesterday, I purposely played it on the safe side and gave the film a 7. It felt closer to an 8, but I just knew that, based on my previous memory of Terminator 2 that I'd need to gave a little room at the top. I knew it was going to get better...I just didn't think it'd be THIS much better.
