In the upside down world of this film, violence and nihilistic cruelty run rampant, in a hysterically brutal expressionist labyrinth. I was already predisposed to disliking this movie cause it’s based on slanderous bullshit-fuck Pauline Kael- and I wasn’t sold on Fincher doing this material justice based on the interviews he had given. He’s certainly a talented filmmaker, but you couldn’t really tell based on this completely uninspired super dull stuff. Instantly forgettable, which means this is probably Fincher’s best chances at an Oscar.
