Sweet. Kinda bonkers, but sweet. The tonal clashes really did take me by surprise though, as I did NOT expect this to end in a samurai sword fight on a beach. Obvious echoes of early Wong but this feels much more scattered and sporadic in nature - although there are some real beautiful moments in amidst the chaos, specifically the the tram sequence which perfectly encapsulates the Hong Kong New Wave in my eyes.
