Sam Muñoz’s review published on Letterboxd:
Aggravating, putrid garbage. I can smell it from here.
Gross, embarrassing miscalculations across the board. Overtuned performances and oversaturated “scares” (if you could call them that) give way to a repetitious plot with no ideas and even less of a coherent tone. If only Andy Muschetti knew how to create tension, or interiority, or humor without banging you over the head until you’re senseless. Paced to death and indulgent in all the wrong ways, pretending it has the scale for a Lord of the Rings ending was laughable. The confidence of a brain dead 12 year old that thinks he’ll be the next Kubrick. Only thing terrifying is how negatively both of these IT movies will affect mainstream horror going forward.
We’re all losers now.
